Die Alaska-Pipeline oder Trans-Alaska-Pipeline war eine wichtige Ölpipeline, die durch Alaska bis hinunter in die kontinentalen Vereinigten Staaten verlief.
Hintergrund

Während der Ressourcenkriege errichteten die USA die Frontlinie von Anchorage, um die Pipeline und sämtliches Öl vor Angriffen von außen zu schützen.[Non-game 1] Als die Chinesen im Winter 2066 in Alaska einmarschierten, setzten sich die Amerikaner mit ihrer neuen Superwaffe, der Powerrüstung, zur Wehr und eroberten die Trans-Alaska-Pipeline zurück.[Non-game 2] Da ein Teil der Pipeline durch Kanada verlief, führte eine Beinahe-Sabotage der Leitung schließlich dazu, dass die Vereinigten Staaten Kanada offiziell militärisch annektierten.[1][Non-game 3] Nach der Annexion wurde die Pipeline verstärkt von US-Soldaten bewacht.[Non-game 4]
Vorkommen
Die Trans-Alaska-Pipeline kommt als Simulation im Add-On 
Operation: Anchorage von 
Fallout 3 vor und wird im Hauptspiel erwähnt.[1] Zudem sollte sie im eingestellten Fallout Extreme zu sehen sein.
Hinter den Kulissen
- Die Pipeline selbst wird in den Fallout-Spielen von Interplay zwar nicht ausdrücklich erwähnt, aber in der Zeitleiste von Vault 13: A GURPS Post-Nuclear Adventure wird sie als „the Alaskan pipeline“ bezeichnet.[Non-game 5] Die Pipeline wird auch in der Fallout Bible[Non-game 3][Non-game 4] und in einem Artikel der Capitol Post in Fallout 3 erwähnt.[1] Das offizielle Lösungsbuch zu Fallout 3 bezeichnet sie als „Trans-Alaska Pipeline”.[Non-game 2]
- In Wirklichkeit gibt es keine direkte Pipeline von Alaska zum amerikanischen Festland. Die tatsächliche Trans-Alaska-Pipeline
verläuft vom Prudhoe-Bay-Ölfeld an der Nordküste Alaskas nach Valdez an der Südküste. In Valdez wird das Öl für den Transport zum amerikanischen Festland in Tanker verladen, wobei Kanada vollständig umgangen wird. - Die Pipeline wird auch auf der Titelseite des Boston Bugle Volume 12 als „Trans-Alaska Pipeline“erwähnt.[Non-game 6] Bei diesem handelt es sich um einen Werbeartikel, der dem „Pip-Boy™ 2000 Mk VI self-assembly construction kit“ beilag.[Non-game 7]

- Die Alaska-Pipeline wäre als Schauplatz in Fallout Extreme vorgekommen. Nach dem Krieg wäre sie von der Stählernen Bruderschaft zu einem geschützten unterirdischen Versorgungsweg und Gefangenennetzwerk umfunktioniert worden, um den Gefahren des Ödlands zu entgehen. Im Verlauf der ersten beiden Kapitel hätte The Cause gegen die Bruderschaft gekämpft und die Pipeline erobert.

With conditions deteriorating between the United States and China, a military presence in Alaska was established to prevent a possible invasion across the Bering Strait. With increasingly scarce oil reserves, a last deep-sea deposit below the Pacific Ocean was claimed by China before allegedly being sabotaged by American special operatives. Strained relationships spiraled downward into conflict as China marched on Alaska, and the Chinesisch-Amerikanischer Krieg of 2066—2077 erupted. Under the command of General Jingwei, the Chinese Army usurped control of Alaska's oil pipeline and reserves. In response, the Americans began what came to be called "The Alaskan Reclamation Operation" (2067—2077).
Under the leadership of General Constantine Chase, the U.S. Army battled fiercely to the front lines of the conflict before Chase began deploying specialized Power Armor units that began pushing the Chinese back. Future Power Armor suits were further refined as the conflict dragged on, and the Trans-Alaska-Pipeline was reclaimed. With resources flowing through Canada, strained diplomatic tensions between Canada and the United States becoming problematic, and Canadian forces attacking the pipeline, the country was annexed.
A combination of inclement weather, constant American bombardment and trench warfare, and U.S. Powered Armor unit attacks sweeping through mainline China, the Chinese supply lines weakened and finally broke down completely. By the beginning of 2077, the city of Anchorage was finally liberated, the Chinese eradicated, and the operation deemed a success. A commemorative memorial was erected in Washington, D.C., in honor of the soldiers who fought and perished for the greater American good. Violence between America and pockets of Canadian freedom fighters continued throughout 2077, until the Großer Krieg obliterated almost all infrastructure, commerce, and human life."
