Der Nukleus (ehemals Mount Desert Island Naval Facility) ist eine U-Boot-Basis aus der Vorkriegszeit, die von der U.S. Armee benutzt wurde, bevor die Bomben fielen. DiMA erlaubte den Kindern des Atoms die Basis zu nutzen, solange sie seine Erinnerungen für ihn beschützen.
Hintergrund
Der U-Boot-Stützpunkt auf Mount Desert Island gehörte der U.S. Armee, bevor die Bomben fielen. Bevor die Bomben fielen war die USS Democracy dort stationiert, da ihr Kapitän Arnold Wabash das U-Boot dort reparieren ließ. Da er nicht am großen Krieg teilhaben wollte, sabotierte er den Schiffsreaktor, wodurch das Schiff und der gesamte Stützpunkt verstrahlt wurde. Er verschwand dann mit den Startcodes in das Harbor Grand Hotel zusammen mit seiner Geliebten Franny.
Irgendwann fand DiMA den alten Stützpunkt und beschloss dort zu bleiben. Er überließ Martin und den Kindern des Atoms den Stützpunkt, damit sie eine Heimat auf der Insel haben. DiMA ließ die Erinnerungen auf den Rechnern im Nukleus gespeichert, die er vergessen wollte. damit sie von den Kindern des Atoms geschützt werden.
Aufbau
The outside of the facility is built into the side of a mountain. It is made almost entirely of concrete.
Upon entry, there are two doors on the left that each lead to a locker room. If you continue down the hallway, you will arrive at the base. On the right is The Vessel, a pre-War submarine.
Continuing forward through a wooden shack, there is a wooden ramp up. If you go up, you will arrive at the shopfront of Sister Mai, and a little bit further is the shopfront of The Archemist. Turning left and going up the stairs leads to Brother Kane and a power armor station. Going further up the stairs will lead to the entrance to the Nukleus-Kommandozentrale, guarded by a zealot.
Going straight from The Archemist's shopfront, there is a staircase that goes up on the right and a staircase that goes down on the left. The staircase on the right goes through multiple wooden shacks to end up at the entrance to The Vessel. The staircase down leads to Zealot Ware. From Zealot Ware, there is another staircase on the right that leads to the bottom of The Vessel, and a ramp up. The ramp up also leads to the entrance to The Vessel.

- Brother Devin's diary - sticking out from under the mattress In Brother Devin's shack in the southwest section on the top level.
- Footlocker key - Next to a bench just around the corner left coming from The Island. Opens a footlocker in The Vessel, available during Witch Hunt.

- Repairs in progress - Near the decontamination arches to the east.
- Put It from Your Mind - On a chair in a shack nearest to the sub's periscope.
- High Confessor's note - Given to the player by High Confessor Tektus during Witch Hunt.
- 2 fusion cores on the metal shelves in the first wooden shack upon entering.
- 2 cannonballs in a bucket up in the catwalks at the end of the first hallway to the west after exiting the end of the Nukleus-Kommandozentrale, next to a huge pile of cans.
- Nuka-Cola Quantum in a shack on a cabinet to the west.
- Kiloton Radium rifle sold by Brother Kane.
